Day 2: Breathtaking Sight at Tagaytay
After breakfast, your private tour guide leads you to the heights of Tagaytay, 60 km south of Manila, and lets you appreciate the breathtaking view of Taal Volcano, a volcano within a volcano, and a lake within a lake. Then enjoy a lunch of Filipino cuisine coupled with a panoramic view of the lake and the volcano.
After lunch, proceed to the period town of Taal. The tour commences at Casa Punzalan, an ancestral home. Visitors walk or ride on carabao‐drawn carts through town to the present Basilica of St. Martin de Tours, built in 1575 and once noted to be the biggest church in the Orient, and a villagers' refuge from volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and invasions. A few meters away is the shrine of Our Lady of Caysasay, famed for the healing waters of its nearby Santa Lucia well.
Next, embark on a guided walk through the town, which includes beautifully preserved homes of the town's prominent families, a panucha (sugarcane or coconut delicacy) factory, and Taal's thriving embroidery and balisong (knife)making industries. After the tour, drive back to Manila.
