- KARAKORUMKarakorum (Harhorin), located in the west of Ulaanbaatar, was established by Genghis Khan in 1220 and was one of the ancient capitals of the great Mongol Empire. Although this historical city has lasted for only 140 years, it ever housed some magnificent religious architecture, such as palaces, mosques, and monasteries. Today you can still experience its ancient glory by exploring the well-known Erdene Zuu Monastery (one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in Mongolia) and the Karakorum Museum.
- GOBI DESERTLying in southern Mongolia and across northern China, the Gobi Desert is well-known as one of the largest desert regions in the world.
